One of the most interesting questions the New York Giants organization will answer before the start of the 2018 NFL season is the identity of the back – up quarterback for the Giants. It is an open competition between last year’s quarterback draft pick, Davis Webb and this year’s fourth round draft pick, Kyle Lauletta. Both of these quarterbacks had their best seasons in their senior years with single season and career records to signify their importance in the college teams they played for. Ultimately, the decision may come down to a combination of mandatory organized team activities as well as the pre-season games in August. Continue reading

Saquon Barkley, at twenty-one years of age, has already accomplished a lot in his football life. With relatives already known in the sports world, with both his father and his uncle as notable boxers, Saquon Barkley has already secured the family legacy by having a day named after him. On March 9, 2018, it was announced that the Pennsylvania House Chamber votes to make March 14th Saquon Barkley day in the state of Pennsylvania.

First round New York Giants draft pick Saquon Barkley, from Penn State, is projected to join the ranks of all-time great Giant running backs. More importantly, the Giants organization are finally a two-dimensional offense again with the addition of Barkley. It is clear with the addition of the Penn State running back, in which he was considered the highest graded player in the entire NFL draft by many, that the Giants are all in for getting that Lombardi trophy in the next couple of seasons.

A lot has been said by various football sports analysts and fans about the New York Giants either selecting Saquon Barkley, the running back from Penn State, or the U.S.C. quarterback, Sam Darnold, who is the only one of the top four in the position exclusively talked about by the Giants organization, in this year’s NFL draft. But there is another school of thought to consider. General manager Dave Gettleman has made it a priority for the Giants this year to fortify both the offensive and defensively lines of this team. Three of the four projected draft picks listed below reflect Gettleman’s goal for this season and hopefully beyond. These players will add not only depth to their respected positions but will also be the building blocks for the next generation.
