5 for 5 and a TD! Although it is preseason and only one series, Giants 2019 first round pick QB Daniel Jones provided much needed excitement for a frustrated fan base and beleaguered front office. Jones provided hope. As Andy Dufrense from the Shawshank Redemption quipped, “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.”
Yes. I am a doubter about Jones. And I am also a fervent Giants fan. His brief and brilliant appearance put a smile on my face. One word to describe Daniel Jones: Unflappable. With all eyes watching him and expecting him to flop, Jones showed poise and was in command.
A long time follower of this blog named Duke told me, “This Jones could be something special.” Duke is a longtime Giants fan who has been following the team since the 1950s. His other take: “Eli Manning is finished.” Gettleman made a miscalculation by keeping him for his 16th season.

Major takeaway from this game was Jones’ performance. Let us hope he can build upon his first time in action.
